Introduction to the advantages and disadvantages of polyester fabrics

2024-01-05

When choosing home textiles, we will consider the question of knitted fabrics. Should we use cotton fabrics, linen fabrics, or other fiber fabrics? To choose a fabric, we must know what the characteristics of the fabric are. FA Textile will explain to you what polyester is a fabric. Analysis of the advantages and disadvantages:

What kind of fabric is polyester?

Polyester fabric is a kind of chemical fiber clothing fabric that is widely used in daily life. Its advantages are that it has good wrinkle resistance and retention, so it is suitable for outdoor products such as clothing jackets, various bags, handbags, and tents.

Advantages of polyester fabric:

1. The polyester fabric has good heat resistance. It can be said that polyester fabric has better heat resistance than chemical fiber fabrics and has strong plasticity. If it is made into a pleated skirt, it can maintain the pleats well without too much ironing.

Second, the light resistance of polyester fabrics is relatively good. Products made of polyester fabrics are usually more resistant to sunlight refraction, which exceeds that of natural fiber fabrics. Exposing polyester fabrics to the sun will not cause any problems, so there is no need to worry about any problems with it. This is because this feature makes the light resistance of polyester fabrics almost equal to that of acrylic fabrics.

Third, the polyester fabric has strong abrasion resistance. The abrasion resistance is only lower than that of nylon with good abrasion resistance, and it is stronger than other natural fibers and synthetic fibers.

Fourth, the polyester fabric has good corrosion resistance. Textiles made of polyester fabrics are not damaged by alkalinity and acidity, so some bleaching agents and oxidizing agents will not work on them at all, and polyester textiles are resistant to mold and insects.

Disadvantages of polyester fabric:

The dyeability is not good. Because there is no specific dyeing group on the molecular chain of polyester, and the polarity is low, it is difficult to dye, the dyeability is not good, and the dye molecules do not easily enter the fiber. But the color fastness is good and the color is not easy to fade.

Second, the melting resistance is not good. Polyester is a fabric with good heat resistance among synthetic fabrics. It has thermoplastic properties and can be easily used to make pleated skirts, with long-lasting pleats and not easy to deform. In addition, polyester fabrics have poor melting resistance and are prone to forming holes in the presence of soot and sparks. Try to avoid contact with cigarette butts and sparks when wearing clothing made of polyester.

Third, the hygroscopicity is poor. Wearing has a sense of sultry heat, and at the same time, it is easy to be charged with static electricity and contaminate small dust, which affects the appearance and comfort of the clothes. However, it is easy to wash and dry, and the wet strength is almost unchanged, and it is not easy to deform.

Fourth, it is easier to pilling. Polyester fabric is a kind of artificial synthetic fiber product. All synthetic fiber fabrics will have the problem of pilling! As an artificial synthetic fiber, polyester is certainly no exception, so polyester will go through a will-pilling process for a while.

The advantage of polyester fabric is that it is not easy to deform and wrinkle, and has good wrinkle resistance. It is more suitable for use in such fields as sofas and chairs in the home furnishing field. Don't worry about leaving creases affecting the beautiful visual effect, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of the fabric before choosing a knitted fabric.
